#LoveLondon – Dot Londoners Bringing Out the Best in the City

There’s a lot to love about London. With its rich history and hugely diverse culture, this thriving capital has a lot to offer. Whether you’re looking for something in the arts, food and drink or just want to enjoy the views of the city, there are a lot of places to visit and enjoy.

To help you decide how to get the best out of London, we’ve put together a handy list of 10 Dot Londoners you need to try.

 

Love Traditional Pubs – The Duke of Wellington

The Duke of Wellington has sat on the same site in Dalston since around 1842. When visiting you can choose from a wide range of real ales, beers, ciders and carefully selected wines, along with some truly tasty pub grub create with sustainable ingredients.

 

Love Museums – The Clink Prison Museum

The Clink Prison Museum is built on the original site of The Clink Prison in Southwark. Dating back as far as  1144, it was known as one of the most notorious prisons in England. During your visit you can find out about London’s Old Bankside, handle some of the torture devices that they used and hear about the torment the inmates of the prison suffered.

 

Love Coffee Shops – Briki

Based in Exmouth Market, one of London’s hidden gems, Briki is a deli and coffee brewery serving Mediterranean cuisine with quality ingredients. Their speciality is award winning coffee made from green coffee beans roasted to their greatest flavour by true craftspeople.

 

Love Markets – Covent Garden

Covent Garden has come a long way from when it was the orchard garden of Westminster Abbey and then later London’s main wholesale fruit and vegetable market. It is a world-class destination attracting food lovers, fashionistas and culture vultures where you can either wander around the artisanal stalls in the Apple Market or eat al fresco, watching the world go by.

 

Love Street Food – MyPie

With the street food revolution taking over London, MyPie is playing their part by creating mouth-watering, award-winning pies served hot from a vintage Bedford van and are building a cult following from their regular pitches at around the city.

 

Love History – Look Up London

Look Up London is about discovering things you’ve never noticed before. Run by Blue Badge Guide trainee and blogger Katie Wignall, Look Up London aims to encourage you to look up from your phone while walking around the city, see what you can spot and bask in London’s historical and artistic glory.

 

Love Afternoon Tea – Dalhousie

Dalhousie is a cake and coffee heaven in the heart of Crystal Palace. They create your Afternoon Tea to fulfil your very own foodie desires and can include scones with jam and clotted cream; artisan cakes; and a selection of savoury filled mini brioche buns. There’s also unlimited Jing’s loose leaf tea from Brixton, and, if you fancy it, a glass of prosecco. A great way to spend an afternoon.

 

Love Fringe Theatre – The Vaults

The Vaults is an arts platform based in the tunnels hidden deep beneath Waterloo station. They collaborate with bold artists from all walks of life, encouraging daring and unusual ideas and performances that come to life in their unique spaces. It’s also home to the annual Vaults Festival which hosts hundreds of new shows performed across six weeks.

 

Love Pie & Mash – G Kelly

G Kelly is a popular family-run East End pie and mash shop that has been in the family for four generations since 1939. Their pies are handmade in their in-house bakery using a recipe handed down through the generations.

 

Love City Skylines – Sky Garden

The Sky Garden spans three storeys and offers 360 degree uninterrupted views across London. While there you can wander around the capital’s highest public garden or enjoy the views from the observation decks and the open air terrace. There are also a number of bars and restaurants that you can try out or even sign up for a yoga class with the best views of the city.
